The Gasthuisberg campus of UZ Leuven is undergoing a mobility project that represents the final phase of the campus ring redesign initiative. It introduces dedicated public transit corridors, expanded bicycle facilities, and improved pedestrian connectivity within an integrated transportation network.
The multimodal transportation system forms the project’s foundation through carefully designed infrastructure elements: a dedicated bus corridor with dual transit hubs connected to the hospital via pedestrian bridges, below-grade and surface bicycle facilities accommodating 2,000 units, and enhanced cycling pathways. The reconfigured ring road improves circulation efficiency while optimizing visitor access points. Green-blue infrastructure systems are strategically implemented to improve campus sustainability and create an ecologically functional eastern entrance zone.
Our comprehensive BIM management expertise enabled seamless coordination across all disciplines for this complex project. Technical deliverables included precise earthwork calculations, integrated landscape architecture, and specialized civil structural design for critical infrastructure elements. We engineered sophisticated components including retaining walls, secant pile systems, steel pedestrian bridges, and underground parking access structures, ensuring technical excellence throughout implementation.


The project lifecycle benefited from our extensive drawing production services across the preliminary and detailed design phases. We created compelling photorealistic renderings that effectively communicated the transformed campus environment to stakeholders, facilitating approval processes.
This integrated approach ensures the project will deliver optimized mobility, improved sustainability, and elevated user experience across the Gasthuisberg medical campus when completed in early 2026.
