Increasing mobility in Bruges
The Steenbrugge Bridge in West Flanders constitutes a critical challenge for mobility on the southern outskirts of Bruges: due to its narrowness, every time a ship passes, the current bridge must open, completely halting road traffic.
Following an Urban Navigation study conducted in 2014, a fixed, tall bridge for road traffic and a movable, flat bridge for cyclists and pedestrians will supplant the old bridge over the Gent-Oostende canal.
The project aims to improve both shipping and road traffic around the city of Bruges while preserving the natural heritage of the region.
Splendid structural engineers contributed with the BIM model of the two new bridges and generated the 2D plans.
Using still images, videos and virtual reality content, our Visualization team will help the community to envision the project impact in their day to day life.
