Completing the Ring of Antwerp

The Oosterweel project’s goal is to build a Ring that connects the districts of Antwerp and offer a faster and more sustainable alternative for traffic.

The plan targets the construction of 35 kilometres of new bicycle paths, bridges and tunnels and of additional Park & Rides.

New tunnels will be built under the Scheldt, the America dock and the Albert Canal. In addition, many parts of the ring will be covered, thus moving the traffic underground and creating space for parks, squares, bicycles and walking paths.

Splendid participated in the pre-design phase of the project, with all capabilities.

The Roads & Utilities and Architectural & Structural teams joined forces and collaborated closely with our designer partner to deliver the BIM design of highways, tunnels, additional structures, landscapes and water management.

Our Automation Design experts created customized tools and workflows for all parties involved in the project.

Earthworks, quantity take-offs, cost estimations, compliance with specific client standards are some of the processes where our application proved a substantial impact on the efficiency of the project.

Visualization supported the communication department in displaying the initiative to a larger audience with the help of rendered images and videos.

We are looking forward to the next stage: the final design.
